Character of the village

Cogolin works. It is the commune of the gulf where you still find a town rather than a resort: twelve thousand residents, shops open in February, an old village with its clock tower and remains of ramparts. Three crafts began here and are still practised: the pipe cut from Maures briar, the carpet hand-knotted by the Manufacture de Cogolin since 1924, and the reed for wind instruments cut from the canes of the plain. Two marinas open the commune onto the gulf.

Schools and access

Four primary schools and two secondary schools, which makes Cogolin one of the few points in the gulf where a family can educate its children without leaving the commune. It is also the seat of the gulf of Saint-Tropez communauté de communes. Its position, between Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime, with the plain behind and six kilometres to the sea, makes it the best-served commune in the gulf and the least dependent on the season.

The price gap with the peninsula comes down to this: what you buy here is not an address but a life that works all year, with a school, a market and a doctor. The old village keeps its workshops and its cafes; les Marines de Cogolin give access to the water in a more residential setting. It is the choice of families and permanent residents more than of second homes.
