Character of the village
La Croix-Valmer runs down from the Maures massif to the bay of Cavalaire, through vines, pine woods and beaches. Gigaro is its best known frontage; beyond it begin Cap Lardier and Cap Taillat, managed with the Conservatoire du littoral and the Port-Cros national park, which is to say permanently withdrawn from building. The commune owes its name to a stone cross raised in 1893, in memory of the vision tradition attributes to Constantine in 312.

Schools and access
The Georges-Selliez school takes children from nursery to the last year of primary; secondary schooling is in the neighbouring communes. The commune sits at the hinge between the peninsula and the corniche des Maures: Ramatuelle and Saint-Tropez are reached inland, Cavalaire along the coast. With much of the shoreline protected, the built stock on the seafront is closed by nature and will not grow.
Art de vivre
Gigaro in summer, the coastal path the rest of the year: three hours' walk to Cap Taillat without a single building. Côtes-de-Provence estates occupy the slopes between the village and the sea. It is a seafront without a promenade, quieter than Cavalaire and less busy than Ramatuelle, which explains a good deal about who buys here.
Distances and journey times
Real journey times, measured against the road network, not straight-line estimates. Allow more in July and August: the gulf has one road and it saturates.
Distances and driving times measured against the road network (OSRM / OpenStreetMap). Cycling time is an estimate: the same road distance at an average of 15 km/h, and shown only where the ride is a realistic one.
The price, placed in the gulf
An average on its own says little. Here are the gulf's villages side by side, all property types combined.
DVF, DGFiP: average across all categories, 2025. An average is pulled up by the largest sales of the year; the median, which is steadier, is available on request. Share transfers in property-holding companies, common at the top of this market, are absent from DVF.

Frequently asked questions
Can you build on the La Croix-Valmer coastline?
A significant part of it is permanently protected: Cap Lardier and Cap Taillat are managed with the Conservatoire du littoral and the Port-Cros national park, and the loi littoral applies to the rest. For a buyer that means a closed stock of seafront property, and a view that will not change.
Does Tardieu Immobilier operate in La Croix-Valmer?
Yes. Our agency has been based in Saint-Tropez since 1967 and works in La Croix-Valmer directly: our mandates there are handled without an intermediary.
Do you handle properties that are not published online?
Some of our mandates stay off-market at the owner's request. Those properties appear neither on this site nor on the portals, and are presented after an initial conversation.
How does a valuation work?
We visit in person, examine the property, its aspect and its immediate surroundings, then provide a written, reasoned valuation. The process is free and without obligation.
Do you assist non-resident buyers?
Yes. We work regularly with an international clientele and coordinate viewings, dealings with the notary and follow-through to signature, in French or English.
